Important Things to Know on Race Day!
1) Start times for ITT are on your RED number with your name on it. Please make sure you arrive at the start line before that time as you will not be allowed to move back and start again. If you are late the clock is counting! BLACK numbers are for the Road Race. Many of you will have 2 sets of numbers. Please change them for each race as we can’t track your results without them.
2) Pin numbers on left side for camera and strap transponder to left ankle.
3) The course is OPEN to traffic everywhere so please use caution at all times. Do NOT cross the center line where there is one (State Hwy 88) and do NOT cut corners into possible oncoming traffic. While climbing BLANK Hill RD you may feel like it is an advantage to you but stay in the middle of the road and you will go just as fast AND be safe from unforeseen oncoming traffic.
4) The corner from State Hwy 88 (right hand 90 degree off camber switchback) on to Blank Hill Rd (the long climb) is tricky. Use caution when you are on your TT bike and do NOT swing wide over the yellow line into potential on coming traffic. Corner marshals will be there and reporting your number for possible disqualification if violation is blatant.
5) We’ve asked the neighbors on the route to please tie up their dogs but people being people they may not. Use caution if a dog is running out at you. Please report to me where there is one on the course and I will notify the authorities.
6) Please use caution when on the course either coming or going in your vehicle if a race is in progress. It would be kind of you to exit the course going clockwise and with the flow of an event in progress. Do NOT exit the area going down Blank Hill Road unless all competitors have safely finished.
7) Please be kind and courteous of your surroundings. We’d like to make more friends than enemies. The way you present yourself to the locals will go a long way towards making or breaking our event for future years.
8) Please do NOT litter on the course or in the Parking/Food area. There will be garbage cans for your litter and recyclables. Your attention to this is greatly appreciated and will help speed up clean up and the final awards ceremony.
9) A neutral wheel car will be following the main group and if you have a flat tire, pull to the side of the road as quickly and safely as possible with your arm up. Mechanics will help you change the wheel and get back in the race as quickly as possible. You can draft the vehicle for a while to help you get back on. If you can’t get back on in a couple of minutes drafting the vehicle it is instructed to get back up to the main pack and you’ll be on your own.
10) Warm up for all races on Belvedere Ridge Road (left turn about ¼ mile from start/finish line). Good luck and enjoy the day!
